We're giving 4 star purely for the price. The Sunday lunch was beautiful, cannot fault it at all. The service was very good. Just a bit pricey for us.Posted on Google![]()

An absolutely wonderful evening We cannot thank the team enough for making the evening before our daughter’s wedding so incredibly special. Richard and Lindsey went above and beyond by closing their dining room especially for our family and creating a bespoke menu with a carefully chosen drinks pairing. From start to finish, everything was exceptional. The food was absolutely delicious, beautifully presented and clearly prepared with enormous care and attention to detail. Each course was wonderful, and the drinks pairing complemented the food perfectly. What really made the evening, though, was the hospitality. The hosting was warm and welcoming, and the service was faultless — attentive without ever being intrusive. We felt completely looked after throughout the evening. As the bride’s parents, the night before the wedding was a very special occasion for us, and they created the perfect setting for us to relax, celebrate and enjoy precious time with our family before the big day. It was a truly memorable evening and the perfect start to such an important weekend. We are incredibly grateful for all the thought, effort and generosity that went into making it so special. Thank you so much — we will remember this evening for a very long time.Posted on Google![]()

Wow! What a fantastic find. We were staying in Pickering for a few days and we were recommended to try the Plough Inn. Lindsey welcomed us with a big smile and we enjoyed a drink by the bar. The food was fantastic - every mouthful was delicious. Credit to the head chef, Rick! We were particularly impressed by the wine list too - a great selection - order by the glass, carafe or bottle. We would highly recommend and look forward to returning soon!Posted on Google![]()

My wife and I came to the Plough for an early anniversary meal and we had a thoroughly wonderful evening. The menu was small but had an excellent range of options, so my wife and I could order different things and sample each other's, which were lovely. The front of house was friendly, talked us through the wines, gave us a potted (and very interesting) history of her and her husband's time as restauranteurs and we had an absolutely wonderful evening. The walls are decorated with interesting articles and reviews from their previous restaurants (including a glowing one from Jay Rayner) and I could happily have spent an hour, sat at the bar looking at all their cookery books on display. We had three courses each (£59 for three) and the bill came to about £170, with various wine pairings for different courses. As it was a special evening, we were glad to pay extra for the pleasure of it and have no issues with the cost. We left feeling pleasantly full, having feasted well. I would certainly recommend The Plough at Wombleton to anyone who would like a memorable evening.Posted on Google![]()

We love it here! The food is great, the service is lovely and the dining room is a delight! I like that there are only 2 sittings per evening. I love the smallish menu and I like that the restaurant closes 2 days a week. This means that the chef is never over-worked and you know that you are getting top quality every time. Great Sunday lunch Great Sunday lunch. Two courses or three. The choice for mains was pork or beef, both of which were delicious. Plenty of tasty accompanying veg. Very dog friendly pub. Great service too, highly recommend.Posted on Tripadvisor![]()

First Class! Richard is one of the most talented chefs around and his wife Lindsey an exceptional and welcoming host. This isn’t the average pub fare more like high end fine dining so don’t expect big menus, fast service or cheap food. Dining on the hottest evening of the year The Plough was cool and comfortable with a menu to match. Our starter was a cold fish veloute with scallops, salmon and king prawns…..delicious! Mains I opted for Guinea Fowl with a tasty risotto while my partner had a splendid pork dish both followed by crème brûlée. Served with an excellent wine and an extensive range of non alcoholic options. Everything was simply first class and well worth the drive to this pretty village.Posted on Tripadvisor![]()

First class Lindsey and Richard are consummate professionals who oversee a truly excellent dining experience. The Plough is a quintessentially rural pub masking a real hidden gem. The restaurant experience is first class and there is a well stocked independently sourced bar and wine list. We have been visiting since they relocated from Hovingham and have never been disappointed. This may seem a gushing review but we are simply loyal customers keen to highlight such a great local choice.Posted on Tripadvisor![]()

The best Sunday Lunch …anywhere? Although this was a repeat visit of many to enjoy the food and hospitality provided so brilliantly by Richard & Lindsey, it was our first opportunity to enjoy a Sunday Lunch. It was simply both superb and flawless! We introduced a family friend who is very widely travelled and has dined at the highest class and starred restaurants. She said she was blown away and had never enjoyed her meal so much.Verified by TrustindexTrustindex verified badge is the Universal Symbol of Trust.
